Our Mission
Our journey began from sheer frustration at the staggering costs of a good cup of coffee. Surprisingly, much of this expense is due to packaging and marketing, not the coffee's true quality. To make a long story short, our experience with an expensive pour-over coffee highlighted the impact of bean quality and brewing techniques on taste.
This led us to explore how to replicate the experience at home without breaking the bank. We carefully selected high-quality beans, use our pour-over pouch filters, and opt for simple packaging. Instead of funneling funds into advertising giants, we've chosen to support our local food bank and rely on grassroots marketing.
This is where our valued customers step in. If you enjoy our product, we kindly ask that you share the experience and taste of our pour over coffee with friends. Your support not only helps us grow but also aids a cause close to our hearts.

What's so special about our coffee?
It's not just the coffee beans that makes a good coffee. The amount of coffee and how we brew it matters just as much. We use a mixture of multiple ground sizes in each pouch to get the best result.
All our beans are sourced from organic fair trade farms. We package them up to meet the demand of our weekly orders – no stocking up and letting them go stale. You could have the best beans, but if they're roasted and left sitting, the flavor takes a hit.
Our unique filter also has a huge part to play. Ever wonder why cafes charge more for a pour-over? Well, our filter does a lot more than your regular methods. It filters out way more of those coffee grounds, so you get a smoother, less bitter cup. Plus, you're getting more caffeine with every sip – a win-win for flavor and that much-needed energy boost.

What's with the name?
When we were trying to figure out the name for our company, we put our thinking hats on (we drank beer) and starting brainstorming (Googling). Despite being from Vancouver, you might expect us to choose something with words like "Mountain," "Rain," "Hipster" "Outdoors," "Orca," "Bear" or "Wildlife." We thought about the people in our community and how we are all a bit different, yet still fit in.
As our conversation about the flat earth continued, the word "Misfit" came up. That's when we knew what we were going to name our company: "MisfitMountainBearsociety.ca." Once the IPA wore off, we decided to shorten it a bit.
And that is why we went with MisfitSociety.ca

Green
No matter who you are or where you're from, we've all got this one amazing home to look after. This is why we focus on offering a selection of only organic and fair trade coffee.
Organic coffees are produced without the use of pesticides and fertilizers. They are also shade grown - meaning they're grown within an existing canopy, which eliminate soil erosion and promotes biodiversity.
Fair Trade Certified ensures that coffee growers work under ethical labor conditions and are paid fairly for their work.
Our Packaging is recyclable and our filters are compostable. The pouch is crafted from recycled paper combined with a thin layer of aluminum and an inner plastic lining. There's room for further reduction when you place an order, thanks to the resealable bag that houses the coffee pouches. You have the option to skip individual packaging or even go for a balanced 50/50 approach. This provides you with some sealed pouches, perfect for grabbing on the go, and others that can stay unsealed for at-home enjoyment.
